The use of unmanned aeriel vehicles by the US to target "suspected militants" in Pakistan and elsewhere is an unlawful practice that is tolerated by governments all over the Western world. If the innocent civilians that were being murdered by these drones were on this side of the world there would be a justifiable outcry. But they are not, so there is silence here.

We are still far from achieving accountability for Ireland's involvement in renditions, but we already have new and even more abhorrent form of human rights abuse to contend with. We don't know how many people we have helped to kill in Afghanistan, Pakistan and other parts of the world as a result of the US military stopovers at Shannon. And for all we know we may have regular shipments of drones passing through, to be assembled and operated as deadly killing machines.

On Sunday 8th June we will continue to be a voice of protest at Shannon. Please join us to demand an end to our support for the US military and CIA.
